The UNESCO Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were agreed in 2015. These 17 goals provide a ‘program of sustainable, universal and ambitious development’ (UNESCO). The SDGs address areas such as poverty, gender equality and climate action. Sustainability has been identified as a key priority for third level institutions in Ireland. This focus encourages us to work towards solving major challenges and, in doing so, we can achieve national and international impact through research, stewardship, outreach, and teaching.
