Video Creation/Film Making

What is it?

This form of assessment involves students producing a video either individually or as part of a group. It can be used in a variety of different ways. It can be used as an alternative to a presentation or role play on a topic or project. It can also be used to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of a topic in a creative way.

Tips for Use

Decide what you want students to learn or demonstrate through their videos. Set clear guidelines to explain what they will need to do and how it will be assessed.
Choose a topic that fits the learning objectives and is suitable for a video project. Alternatively, offer students a choice of topics to choose from.
Teach students how to use recording and editing tools. Provide students with information about preferred software to use.
