SUMMARY:Re-imagining Assessment: Making it real! A Masterclass with Kay Sambell & Sally Brown
DESCRIPTION:Considering how assessment impacts on student learning has long been central to our thinking in higher education\, but Covid-19 has brought this even more sharply into focus\, requiring us to consider how assessment approaches and practices can engage and motivate students.  Accordingly\, returning to former excessive over-use of unseen\, time-constrained on-campus exams doesn’t seem sensible or realistic. In this workshop\, building on the extensive resources Kay and Sally have created to support staff during pandemic times\, (see https://sally-brown.net/kay-sambell-and-sally-brown-covid-19-assessment-collection/ )\, they will review how effective and authentic assessment can be undertaken across the disciplines\, with plenty of practical examples showing how participants at the workshop can readily and creatively implement these approaches across the three institutions within the CUA alliance.

DESCRIPTION:Learning Objectives: Gain a toolkit of pedagogical strategies for delivering meaningful online delivery in the Visual Arts\, Understand ethical and equality concerns arising from provision of Visual Arts Education online\, How can embodied learning and embodied teaching be delivered online and how can tacit knowledge be captured or recognised in the online environment?\, How can we advocate for the specific need for Fine Art education to be delivered on campus and resist neoliberal and capitalist impulse to remove space in institutions. Create a short questionnaire for students from each of our institutions\, with the responses collated to support further discussions around best practice for Visual Art students’ needs
