DESCRIPTION:In this active workshop\, delegates will work through a series of tasks designed to get them to interrogate their own assessment and feedback practice. In particular\, we will focus upon how we can create opportunities within the ‘contact time’ we have with students to afford assessment and feedback to be seen as part of the fabric and culture of the learning experience. The workshop seeks to help practitioners identify where their curricula might have the potential to afford multiple opportunities for both evaluative and consequential feedback. SUMMARY:e-Proctoring in Theory and Practice: A review
DESCRIPTION:Remote e-proctoring was an established practice in some specific contexts prior to the COVID pandemic; however\, with the onset of the pandemic and the ensuing need to deliver alternative and online assessment procedures\, e-proctoring has become a very topical issue and has been discussed\, trialled and implemented widely both nationally and internationally. In this webinar\, Professor Paul Giller will present some of the findings from his report\, commissioned by QQI and endorsed by the National Academic Integrity Network\, titled ‘E-proctoring in theory and practice: a review’. Professor Giller’s report\, reviewing the literature\, identifying the various approaches taken\, highlighting the advantages and constraints inherent in e-proctoring\, discussing the issues that arise and offering some recommendations for its use may act as a welcome advisory resource for practitioners\, policy makers\, education developers and others in educational institutions in Ireland.  Professor Giller also describes both some successful and less successful case studies and analyses some possible reasons for these outcomes.

SUMMARY:Re-imagining Assessment: Making it real! A Masterclass with Kay Sambell & Sally Brown
DESCRIPTION:Considering how assessment impacts on student learning has long been central to our thinking in higher education\, but Covid-19 has brought this even more sharply into focus\, requiring us to consider how assessment approaches and practices can engage and motivate students.  Accordingly\, returning to former excessive over-use of unseen\, time-constrained on-campus exams doesn’t seem sensible or realistic. In this workshop\, building on the extensive resources Kay and Sally have created to support staff during pandemic times\, (see https://sally-brown.net/kay-sambell-and-sally-brown-covid-19-assessment-collection/ )\, they will review how effective and authentic assessment can be undertaken across the disciplines\, with plenty of practical examples showing how participants at the workshop can readily and creatively implement these approaches across the three institutions within the CUA alliance.
